Yemanjá the Queen of the Sea

Ariomar Lacerda's book Yemanjá the Queen of the Sea, published by Pallas, has a softcover binding and contains 91 pages.

The author gathers in this book the most beautiful legends, tales, and myths related to the Queen of the Sea, Yemanjá, the most popular, revered, and beloved orixá in Brazil, rescued from oral tradition.

About Yemanjá

Iemanjá is a deity in the Umbanda and Candomblé religions and is very popular in Brazil and Cuba. The name Iemanjá translates from Yoruba as “Mother whose children are fish.” She is the goddess of the river Ogum that crosses Abeokutá, and in the New World, she took the place of Olocum (the orixá of the sea in Africa) and became the Queen of the Seas and Oceans. Known as the Queen of the Sea or Lady of the Waters, she is one of the most well-known orixás in Brazil and around the world. No devotee fails to pay homage at her feet by the sea. Saturday is the day of the week dedicated to her, and her followers wear transparent glass beads and prefer to dress in light blue.
