The local council prepared a banquet to honor this important visit. Local fishermen were called upon to provide plenty of fish for the count and his entourage. They cast their nets near Guaratinguetá. To their surprise, the net brought up an image of Nossa Senhora da Imaculada Conceição, made of wood but without its head. After a few more casts, they found the missing part of the sculpture. They carefully washed the statue and wrapped it in cloths, continuing their fishing.
