Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is one of the three Persons of the Most Holy Trinity. He is God with the Father and the Son, and together with the Father and the Son receives the same worship and glory, as noted since ancient times by the Nicene-Constantinopolitan Creed.

Consubstantial with the Father and the Son, He is inseparable from them both in the inner life of the Trinity and in His gift of love to the world. But when worshipping the Most Holy Trinity, which is vivifying, consubstantial, and indivisible, the faith of the Church also professes the distinction of the Persons. When the Father sends His Word, He always sends His Spirit: a joint mission in which the Son and the Holy Spirit are distinct but inseparable. Indeed, it is Christ who appears, He who is the visible image of the invisible God; but it is the Holy Spirit who reveals Him.
