WHAT ARE GUIDES?

Guides are sacred objects that serve as a link between the believer and the Orixás. Therefore, they should be treated with respect and devotion.

A guide is not just a simple necklace. It is a protective object that must be consecrated by an Entity or through consecration rituals during the believer's initiation process to have its desired effect.

TYPES OF GUIDES:

Guides can be made of seeds, wood, bone, beads, porcelain, stones, crystals, or plastic.

WORK GUIDES AND PROTECTION GUIDES

There are various types of guides. Work guides are used by believers in temples during spiritual rituals. They are typically received during the initiation process and help connect the medium with the Entities, protecting them during rituals. These guides indicate the levels of initiation a believer has achieved and the guides they carry.

Protection guides are for daily use.

HOW TO CLEAN GUIDES?

Guides should be washed with water from natural sources corresponding to the relevant Orixá. Since it's difficult to find crystal clear spring water, sea water, or waterfall water in big cities, it is recommended to use mineral water or give them a bath with Amaci, which can be purchased at religious goods stores. Always ask your spiritual guide to clean and energize your guide when you visit a temple.

WHEN TO USE THE GUIDE?

Since a guide is a sacred object, continuous use is not necessary, especially for work guides. Protection guides can be worn all the time without needing to be exposed. If it's not possible to wear it around your neck due to professional or personal reasons, you can put it in a small white pouch (like a patuá) and carry it in your bag, wallet, or pocket.
